Students on Ice focuses on the sustainable blue economy

Blue Futures Pathways is an initiative of the Students on Ice Foundation (SOI) to help young people develop careers in the sustainable blue economy sector. In the summer of 2023, twenty students gathered in St.John’s, Newfoundland, to take part in an expedition aboard a former icebreaker. During the two-week expedition, the ship made several stops in communities in southern Labrador, as well as on the west and south coasts of Newfoundland.

Bien Joué x SOI

SOI invited us aboard the ship to document the trip and produce several pieces of content, including an expedition recap video. Since 2017, Bien Joué has participated in several similar expeditions with Students on Ice. We’ve had the chance to travel almost all of Canada’s maritime coasts, including across the Arctic Ocean, as well as visiting several communities in Greenland, Alaska and northern Nunavut.
